About Me

Hi!  Thank you for taking the time to read about me!  My name is Brandy Haubeil and I am from the suburbs of Dayton, Ohio.  It is where I grew up and where I raised my son as a single mother.

I worked as a cake decorator and baker for nearly fifteen years before shifting to care taker for my terminally ill mother in 2021.  As she fell more ill, her life became limited on what she could do, where she could go, who she could be around.  It felt as if someone had put her in a prison of her own illness.  She worked hard her entire life and there was so much she wanted to see and so much more she wanted to do.  My mother ultimately lost her battle with ovarian cancer in March of 2023.  

 

During my Mothers battle with the evil disease otherwise known as ovarian cancer, a lot of my perspectives became clear.  Lights were turned on in the darkest places of my emotions, and everything that had been blurry or uncertain in my life suddenly came into focus.  Good health is a gift but it is never guaranteed, I urge you to take care of yourself, to nourish your body and soul.

In April of 2023, I sold my house and shortly after I began my journey through America, in Hawaii.  As I continue to travel through these exotic places, my mom is always heavy on my mind and my heart.  It feels like she is seeing the world through my eyes now.  She may not have been able to see them while she was alive, but she is alive in me, and in some way I believe she can see them.

My journey has been somewhat planned and somewhat fly by the seat of my pants.  Follow me as I continue to see the coolest places, meet the nicest people and carry on through my journey across the United States as a solo female traveler.
